
Sander Schouten
After studying Law at Utrecht University, Sander started practising law in Amsterdam in 2001. After gaining experience at two medium-sized law firms, Sander and three partners set up Office Hong Kong N.V. in Amsterdam in 2011.
In addition to his daily law practice, Sander is also an expert attached to major Business news websites such as BusinessInsider.nl and MT.nl.
Specialisations
Sander both advises and litigates in the areas of Corporate law, Insolvency law, and Employment law. Sander has considerable experience in restructuring programmes, reorganisations, and civil proceedings. He also has extensive experience in drawing up contracts.
Sander was involved as a lawyer in the bankruptcy of the Gay Krant, which was widely reported in the Media, in which he acted on behalf of Henk Krol. Sander also successfully acted for the globally sold watch brand TW Steel in proceedings against a receiver of a failed distributor.
Sander also regularly publishes his views on current legal issues in the media, including in the largest newspaper, De Telegraaf.
Trustee in bankruptcy
In addition, Sander is regularly appointed by the court as a Trustee in bankruptcies and an administrator in moratoriums. In these positions, he has gained extensive experience in insolvency law. Sander has completed the postgraduate specialist programme in Insolvency Law at the Grotius Academy. This is the most comprehensive and complete postgraduate programme in insolvency law.
Sander is also a member of INSOLAD, the Association for Insolvency Lawyers, and its international branch INSOL.
Sander has registered as principal areas of law in the register of legal areas of the Bar Association: insolvency law and corporate law. On the basis of this registration, he is obliged to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal area, in accordance with the standards of the Bar Association.
